Our Puppy Beginner I classes are our “foundation” class for all new puppies and their families! In this class, your new family member will build their relationship with you while experiencing positive interactions with the other dogs and people in class. This is a very important step which will shape their enthusiasm for all future training and interactions.

These lessons will include:

  • Basic puppy manners including sit, down, wait, come when called, greeting politely and walking nicely on a leash.
  • Weekly problem solving of behavors.
  • Develop your puppy parenting skills using the latest knowledge about canine development and behavior.

Already taken a "beginning" training class, but it has been awhile? Want to review what you learned in a controlled environment with a qualified trainer to answer your questions? Join us for a refresher class to dust off your training and get ready for the next level.

These lessons will include:

  • Brush up on sit, down and come from a distance.
  • Practice loose leash walking with distractions for real world pratice and a step to off-leash.
  • Work on wait and leave-it for everyday use and confidence while walking in public.
  • Enforce your stay for long periods of time for peace of mind.

Continuing your dog's education, our Beginner II class builds on the Puppy / Beginner I class to strengthen those basic commands while also adding to them. Your dog will learn to pay attention to you even when there are distractions which will make outings on a leash more pleasant for both dog and owner.

These lessons will include:

  • Expanding your training with come, stay at a distance and go-to/stay on their bed. We will also work on sit and down stay for longer periods of time.
  • Weekly problem solving of behavors.
  • Strengthen your training by using distractions for more constant and reliable commands.

The Canine Good Citizen is an award from the American Kennel Club that recognizes responsible owners and their well behaved pets. The object is to show that your dog has been trained to walk through public areas politely, accept a strangers attention and show that you dog will still work with you with distractions, including other dogs.

In our CGC prep class, we will work on 2-3 steps of the CGC test each week. This class will help you prepare for the CGC test or you can use it to practice the behaviors your dog has already learned.

The ten steps of the CGC test include:

  • Accept a friendly stranger
  • Sit politely for petting
  • Appearance and grooming
  • Out for a walk (walking on a loose leash)
  • Walk through a crowd
  • Sit and down on command / staying in place
  • Come when called
  • Reaction to another dog
  • Reactions to distractions
  • Supervised separation

Pre-requisite: All dogs must have been completed Puppy/Beginner 1 class.

Need a more one on one approach to your dog's training? Privates are available to work on the areas of training that you wish to focus on. Private training is for clients whose schedule does not fit the available classes. This allows the owner to create their own schedule and with their trainers help, their own curriculm.

This is the route to go if you have a nervous dog with a need for a safe environment. For working on public social skills, classes can be held in public areas that allow dogs. Private classes in a public area are for dogs and owners that know the basics, but wish for some extra help in a “real” environment.

Call or e-mail your trainer for pricing and to schedule a session.

Do you need to work on your dogs social skills?

Field trips to dog friendly areas are now being held on Wednesdays.

These field trips to public areas are a great opportunity to work on your dogs behavior in the real world. We will meet you at a park or shopping center, where you can work on social skills in a supervised environment.

These trips are also available without the owner where the instructor works with the dog then meets with the owner to go over what was worked on.

Field trips are only offered to dogs that are currently enrolled or have completed a class with us.

Call your trainer to set up an appointment that meets your schedule.
